Petar Chobanov is Deputy Governor in charge of the Banking Department and Member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank elected by the 49th National Assembly on 26 July 2023 for a six-year term of office. November 2000 – September 2005 he is Chief expert analysis, Bulgarian National Bank. October 2005 – May 2009 is Executive Director of the Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting. May 2009 – June 2010 is Chairman of the Financial Supervision Commission. Chobanov is Minister of Finance from May 2013 – August 2014.

Petar Chobanov is Member of Parliament from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) at the 43rd National Assembly, Member of Parliament from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) at the 46th National Assembly, at the 47th National Assembly, at the 48th and 49th National Assembly.

He is Associate Professor teaching international finance, monetary theory and policy, fundamentals of finance, history of the monetary regime, systemic risk, financial models, global financial system and monetary policy, financial markets forecasting, financial sustainability, Finance Department, University for National and World Economy;
